DuPont™ StormRoom™ is an above-ground, in-home hurricane and tornado shelter that uses a Kevlar® barrier to help protect against wind and windborne debris generated by dangerous storms. The DuPont™ StormRoom™ is solidly anchored in concrete which allows it to resist wind uplift forces and gusts of up to 250 miles per hour. Independent impact tests show that DuPont™ StormRoom™ withstood repeated hits by building timbers fired at speeds equivalent to those experienced in Category 5 hurricanes and F5 tornados.
In addition to their remarkable strength, shelters made with DuPont™ StormRoom™ with Kevlar® are designed to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the house, functioning as regular rooms with available plumbing and electrical lines. And because Kevlar® has such low electrical conductivity, it does not interfere with cellular telephone reception.
